Gold Snake Necklace and Chain Question:
I have a 14k snake coiled to wrap around a 14k gold box chain.
The inscription on the back of the snake is MGQ or MGO. I was told it was bought from a Swiss Antique dealer.
I have tried to have it appraised, but the appraisers are reluctant.

The snake has 2 ruby eyes, a square emerald on its head and 5 diamonds on it's body coiled.
I have confirmed that the jewels are true, but the appraisers are reluctant to appraise because the age is unknown and they have never seen anything like it.

First I would suggest (unless you personally know) that you listen to the advice of Dr Gregory House (actor Hugh Laurie) in the TV Series 'House' when he says "everybody lies..."
Being 'Told' it was bought from a Swiss Antique Dealer is like telling someone you know someone who knew a friend of the Queen, and they told you... Well you get the idea..!
As a qualified gemologist and Appraiser with over 35 years experience, I can tell you that we NEVER take any story at face value. Much like a CSI Detective (I must stop watching these shows) we have to 'PROVE' something before we commit to it. 
I would first suggest you find a qualified gemologist appraiser who WILL not only test everything, but will write it all down on a professional certificate, because that's the only way you are going to know for sure and can stop guessing.

The letters MGQ or MGO may simply be a Makers Mark or Store identification or even a design stamp. Either way they have no real bearing on the value and would only be recorded as part of the 'Description' to aid Identification.
While the gems can be tested and appraised, and you already know the item is 14 karat gold, I just don't know why the appraiser is unwilling to complete an appraisal for you.
Are they 'Fully qualified?'
