Diamond Anniversary Band Question: Hello! I inherited a diamond anniversary band from my grandmother.

Engagement & Wedding Rings, 1st Edition: The Definitive Buying Guide for People in Love

Price: $14.95

We haven’t had it appraised yet but it looks like five diamonds, perhaps over one carat total weight.

It’s set in white gold I believe.

My question is this: underneath the center stone is an arrow and a small piece of the setting can be pushed in the direction of the arrow.

Why is this and what is it?

Diamond Ring Question: Hi,

I would like to know what is the possible worth of a platinum and 2.5k v v s diamond solitaire ring, as I would like to list the ring on eBay but do not have any idea what to ask for it.

Buying & Selling on eBay

Price: $19.95

The problem is the ring is old and possibly hand made and the diamond has a defect on one side under one of four prongs.

The defect doesn’t affect the stability of the mounting but under a 10x loop the “chip” is noticeable.

It does have a makers mark, a uppercase U with a stylized arrow running thought the center of the U. And also an infinity loop next to the U.

If you could just give me an idea considering the diamond is flawed. I would really appreciate it.

Chinese Hallmarks Question: good afternoon dave.

Chinese Knots for Beaded Jewellery

Price: $19.95

I have acquired a bead necklace which has a barrel clasp with a thick “18″ stamped into it and beside the 18 is 3 Chinese characters (gold barrel clasp marked “18″ with Chinese characters?????)

Could this possibly be a mark for 18k gold?

i believe the beads may be natural coral as they are cold to the touch with small black dots on some, as well as stripes within them and the necklace has knotted silk in between each bead.

i hope you can help me with the mark. its got me stumped.

Gold Snake Necklace and Chain Question: I have a 14k snake coiled to wrap around a 14k gold box chain.

The inscription on the back of the snake is MGQ or MGO. I was told it was bought from a Swiss Antique dealer.

I have tried to have it appraised, but the appraisers are reluctant.

The snake has 2 ruby eyes, a square emerald on its head and 5 diamonds on it’s body coiled.

I have confirmed that the jewels are true, but the appraisers are reluctant to appraise because the age is unknown and they have never seen anything like it.

I will be happy to send you a picture if you would like to see it, but I would love any information you may provide.
